MS&T Travel Grants

The Material Advantage program now offers $500 travel grants to student chapters in support of attending AISTech, the TMS annual meeting, or the ACerS and ASM annual meetings held at Materials Science and Technology Conference & Show (MS&T), http://www.matscitech.org/.

The student chapter may determine how the grant is spent, either to cover many students’ hotel costs, or to cover 1 or 2 students traveling from afar. The grants are restricted to one grant per chapter per academic year. All grants are issued in check form to the chapter advisor, and will be sent after the event upon verification that the chapter was in attendance. If a chapter has special circumstances that require issuance of the check prior to the meeting, exceptions can be made on a case per case basis. Travel grants will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis, so act early! Chapters must be active and in good standing to be eligible for a travel grant.

Applications for travel grants to MS&T are due before September 20, 2008.  Download a travel grant application today. For more information, contact Candace Cunningham, or by phone at 1-800-336-5152, ext. 5527.

The ASM Materials Education Foundation has set up a Student Chapter Grant program, which allows student chapters to submit a proposal describing their outreach activities for funding consideration. The general idea is that the activity or project proposed has to be something that moves toward our mission which is "to excite young people worldwide in materials careers." Proposal must have: Description of project or activity, Timeline of activities, Costs associated with project. At least three grants are available each year of up to $800 each. Proposals must be received by January 31. A subcommittee of the Action in Education Team reviews the proposals. Awards will be made in March. Proposals may be submitted electronically to Jeane Deatherage at jdeather@asminternational.org, or mail to:
