Requirements
To receive membership rebates and be eligible to compete in chapter contests, your student chapter must maintain its active status by meeting the following requirements. (Each chapter is reviewed in the summer after receipt of its annual report and prior to the start of the next academic year.)
Requirements for Active Status
- Holds a Student Chapter Charter
- Has a faculty advisor who is currently a sponsoring society member
- Annually elects chapter officers
- Submits an annual report no later than June 1 of the current chapter year
- Has a minimum of 10 student members in the chapter as of the annual report OR has submitted acknowledgment that the chapter is otherwise active
Dormant Status
If a chapter does not meet the above requirements, it is considered dormant for one year. Appropriate actions, including submitting an annual report the following year, must be taken by the chapter to regain active status. Dormant chapters are not eligible for membership rebates or competition in chapter contests; however, the chapter will continue to receive all regular chapter mailings.
Inactive Status
A chapter that does not meet the requirements after one year is considered inactive. Once inactive, the student chapter faculty advisor or department chair must:
- Submit a written request to the Student Chapter Program Office to reactivate the chapter charter
- Submit a copy of the chapter bylaws
- Have a minimum of 15 student member signatures
- Have a Chapter Officers Listing
